Projects Supported

  • Provided funding to the Toms River Seaport Society to preserve historic photographs and documents pertaining to sailing in the Island Heights area
  • Underwrote the cost of sponsoring a collegiate sailing regatta hosted by Ocean County College
  • Provided funds to young men and women traveling world-wide to compete in championship regattas
  • Sponsored the preparation of permanent exhibits at the Toms River Seaport Society depicting the maritime heritage of Toms River and Barnegat Bay
  • Provided funding for equipment and instruction for sailors on the Central Regional High School, Toms River High School South and Monsignor Donovan High School Sailing Teams
  • Established an annual scholarship in honor of Leonard Egee to assist children seeking to learn to sail
  • Provided major funding for a wooden boatbuilding project undertaken by pupils in every grade at the Island Heights Grade School
  • Provided funding to refinish and restore the 19th century wooden floors in the Island Heights Yacht Club
  • Established a scholarship program to enable young sailors and crew to sail a late-model E-Scow competitively in local and national regattas for one year.
  • Paid for a camera and equipment used by the 3rd Grade of the Island Heights Grade School for a State-mandated unit entitled “Our Community,” which focused on buildings and historic sailing vessels
  • Supported the Island Heights Yacht Club in securing funding for the installation of decking to increase safety in areas of its facility used mostly by junior sailors
  • Assisted in providing lunch to individuals with disabilities participating in Sail-Habilitation’s annual on-water outing in Island Heights
  • Island Heights Yacht Club preservation of historic flags
  • Island Heights Yacht Club preservation of historic clubhouse
  • Funding of a wooden boatbuilding profect understaken by all grades of the Island Heights Grade School
  • Funding for camera equipment used by the Island Heights Grade School 3rd grade for a state mandated unit entitled “Our Community” which focused on buildings and historic vessels
  • Sponsorship of two escow racing sailboats donated to the Sailing Foundation to be sailed competetively by young sailors
  • Partial funding of fire/rescue boat purchased by the Island Heights Volunteer Fire Department
